Biography"Jacob Wayne, a cousin of the famous General Anthony Wayne, was born in Philadelphia, January 4, 1760. At the age of twenty-five he was established as a cabinet-maker at Key's Alley and Front Street, where he continued to work until 1794. The following year his address was 166 North Front Street; here Wayne lived until his death in 1857, although his shop changed to No. 136 and later to 157 North Front Street. By 1836 Jacob Wayne had retired from the responsibilities of business to the role of "gentleman" during the final years of his life" (Downs, Joseph. “Jacob Wayne, Cabinet-Maker.” Bulletin of the Pennsylvania Museum, vol. 25, no. 135, 1930, pp. 23–25.
